So you want to learn Instagram?
How we took one of our clients to 90,000 followers in under a month through Instagram and why it’s one of the biggest platforms, I believe, for 2017, 2018. I’m not going to go into how we did it. I’ll give a couple of tips, actually, but if you want to actually learn the full details because it’s going to get too confusing, all I’m going to tell you is the basics of what you need. If you follow these principles, you’ll get the results.
I’m going to break this video up into two parts. Part one’s going to be what you need to do. Part two is how you can monetize it and how you can make money off of it. Let’s say if you’re starting off fresh, it doesn’t matter what account, what niche you’re creating an account, whether it’s travel, whether it’s working out, whether it’s luxury food, art. It doesn’t matter, whether it’s bikes, cars, whatever the hell it is. Pick an account. Pick a niche.
Part 1: Growth
What you need to do is, number one, be consistent. If you’re going to post three times a day, post three times a day every single day, five to seven days a week. Extremely consistent. That’s number one.
Number two is figuring out what peak times are because on Instagram, the big thing is peak times. When are people hanging out? You got to figure that out. Based on where you are in the world, your peak times are going to vary.
If you’re going after a North American audience, you want to make sure that you’re hitting East Coast versus West Coast. Figure that out. If you’re hitting Europe or Australia, those are different peak times. If you have a page for kangaroos, you’re going to get content from people that are in Australia, so you got to figure out what the peak times in Australia.
Number three, engage your following. The more you engage your following, the more your Instagram is going to grow. So, for example, if people are liking it, people are commenting on it, people are on your pictures, people are reaching out to you through DMs. I know for people that reach out to me through my personal Instagram, what I usually do is I’ll reach out to them and I’ll answer back if it’s a simple question.
Reach out, because what that does is not only are you reaching someone one to one, you also have that opportunity to create value in someone’s life. So engage that, and because of that, people will share your account. People will tell their friends. People will tell their family. People will put it on their Facebook feeds. You never know where it ends up being. The engagement is a huge, huge, huge key, one of the biggest reasons why we took of our client’s accounts from zero to 70,000 followers in one month.
That’s pretty much how we do what we do in the simplest form. What I’m going to do now, part two of it, is why you should focus on Instagram and what you can do to make money on it. Now, I don’t say to this to everybody, again, on Instagram right off the bat until you’ve proven yourself. A lot of people could just buy fake followers. ‘ve seen accounts that I’ve called out before on Instagram and pretty much said, “They’ve got 1.1 million followers, but yet, their engagement doesn’t add up to be 1.1 million followers.” You know that’s bought traffic. They’ve paid for those followers.
Part 2: Monetization
So a few of the things that you can do is Instagram consulting. That’s what we do. We do a lot of Instagram consulting, charging clients per month on running their Instagram accounts, helping them reach certain amounts of followers. You can do things like that. You could help build an email list. That’s another thing that I’ve done very, very well because of my Instagram. If you go to my Instagram, more than likely the link right now is one of two choices, the link is going to be either to my YouTube channel, or number two, it’s going to be to my email list. And from there, you could provide value back, and then you could make money based on affiliate offers or based on any promotions that you have or any products that you want to promote, especially if you’re in a niche market.
Let’s say, for example, if you’re in the hair market and you’ve got a hair following and people go to your email list and then you’ve got your own product or you become an affiliate for a product and you start promoting it why people should buy the product, you can do that and you can communicate that from your email list.
Another thing that you can do is selling shout-outs, especially once you’ve become pretty large on Instagram. I mean we’ve got a few pages that are over a few hundred thousand followers and a lot of people reach out to us. I don’t do it on a lot of my accounts, but it’s one of the things that you can do. I know people making five, six, seven thousand dollars a month right now with big accounts. They’ve taken the time and the effort to build them up there, and then now they’ve literally put their time and effort into it and now they’re selling shout-outs. You can charge anywhere from 10 to 20 bucks a shout-out upwards of … Personally, I’ve paid upwards of 100 to 50 to 200 dollars a shout-out based on the account, based on what you actually want. As long as your account has good engagement, you can charge more.
So that’s pretty much what you need to do, how you need to do it, and then how you can make money from Instagram as well.
